Our Team: Bing Maps

The Maps team has a global product that supports Bing, Cortana, Windows, Office, and hundreds of third-party developers, and enterprises. Our team delivers maps services and experiences that provide rich information, user-centric relevance, and task-oriented experiences.

Our Role: We’re looking for a Senior Program Manager for the geospatial data acquisitions team. You will work with a team of engineers, scientists and industry partners to digitize the globe in high detail, through acquisition and processing of rich, detailed geospatial information. Geo data is the fundamental ingredient that powers engaging maps experiences. You will identify, analyze and prioritize acquisition of data sources, work with our Business Development and Legal teams to set up and maintain partnerships with geospatial data aggregators, define and track business metrics, and manage dependencies across peer teams within Bing Maps and across Microsoft that rely on our data. This is a unique opportunity to work on something strategic to help Bing and Microsoft win.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS or related

technical discipline, with emphasis on one of the areas of Data

Science, Data or Knowledge Modeling or Information Retrieval

• 5+ years of experience working with geospatial data, search or

data mining

• 5+ years of experience as a project manager, driving software

product cycles end to end for complex features, from initial

planning and design through to implementation and

deployment to customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Deep technical skills acquired while working on large data,

large scale online services and distributed computing systems

• Demonstrable creativity and strategic thinking, high tolerance

for ambiguity and ability to drive forward with partial information

• Demonstrable experience as advocate of the customer,

including collection of customer intelligence and competitive

analysis to drive product priorities

• Experience effectively negotiating complex deals with partners

• Entrepreneurial spirit - self-starter, project finisher and sociable

player with a can-do attitude

• Ability to analyze and articulate complex issues

• Ability to write simple, clear scenarios, problem statements,

requirements, and specifications

• Machine learning, Knowledge Representation and/or NLP are

a plus
