As a systems engineer, you would perform engineering activities during program pursuit and program execution phases. During the pursuit phase, systems engineers travel to avionics tech shows, installation facilities, and military airbases for C-130 and AWACS aircraft to brief potential air force customers on the Rockwell Collins avionics solution and its benefits. During the pursuit phase, systems engineers would bid engineering effort and write technical proposals to document the proposed avionics solution. Once a program has been awarded, the team begins program execution activities. The successful candidate will finalize the top level system design, define high level requirements, allocate requirements to subsystem domain teams, and oversee the avionics system integration development and test in the lab environment. Once the lab integration is complete, the candidate would support installation, ground and flight testing on the actual aircraft in country or at an installer's facility.
Typical end customers are a mix of international and USA air force C-130 and AWACS operators. The team has previously done upgrades in Africa, Europe, North America, South America, and Asia.
