Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain various actuarial tools and studies for large group ASO medical benefits

  • Assist with benefit strategy and product pricing for National Accounts customers

  • Support National Accounts Underwriting on range of actuarial issues

  • Assist with development of pricing methodologies for new and innovative products

  • Develop supporting presentation materials and communicate results of actuarial tasks to various stakeholders

  • Participate in the UHG Actuarial Leadership Development Program (ALDP); participants receive exam support and may rotate amongst the actuarial businesses over a defined period of time

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex information to non-technical audiences

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics or related field

  • Society of Actuaries actuarial designation – ASA or near ASA (defined as completion of at least 9 of 12 steps on SOA ASA pathway)

  • 4+ years of actuarial experience

  • Advanced proficiency with Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASA in pursuit of FSA or recent FSA strongly preferred

  • Previous employer medical experience with large group ASO medical experience strongly preferred

  • Experience with Access, VBA, and SAS a plus
