Job Summary

Professon Juliette Roddy, Criminology and Criminal Justice, College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters is seeking a Research Assistant to work on a project: Detroit Cease Fire: Violence Prevention as Community Health Work during the summer months (May - August). The Research Assistant (RA) will interview outreach workers who were formerly incarcerated but are now currently employed by the Detroit Police Department and the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office. Additionally, the RA will document the daily lives and employment activities of the Detrout outreach workers, attend weekly team meetings, attend Detroit Ceasefire call in meetings with the community, in essence acting as the eyes and ears of the researchers while they track and document the work lives of Detroit outreach workers and compare their activities to that of health care workers.

Research Assistant qualifications include:

Attention to detail, good organizational skills, good interpersonal and interviewing skills, the ability to follow instructions carefully, the ability to work within a team and to work individually with participants, and interest and commitment to work on this project.
