Denver Health RN Clinical Nurse Educator in Denver, Colorado

Job Summary Under minimal supervision, assists in developing and implementing initial training, future training and care team development programs for the assigned area(s). Conducts ongoing education for team and is responsible for assuring competency of the professional nurse and unlicensed personnel in the assigned area(s). Evidence of competency is reviewed and documented at least annually and is based on the most recent evidence and best practices. Leads the department’s evidence-based orientation program. Adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Nursing Administration Scope and Standards of Practice to provide leadership with the nursing process. Utilizes the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in daily practice. “Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, Founder / Director, Watson Caring Science Institute.”

Minimum Qualifications Education: Starting April 1, 2016, new hires into the Nurse Educator position a BSN is required. Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred. Nurse Educators in existing positions are encouraged and not required to pursue a BSN. Experience: Typically, three years of direct patient care nursing experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Skilled in decision making regarding appropriateness of care review, assist with research design planning, and collaborating with Nursing Manager on quality improvement reports. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other internal and external team members to ensure timelines are met. Ability to act as a resource to care team for clinical questions. Able to effectively recruit, develop, and retain care team. Obtains at least 10 CE’s per calendar year. Certificate/License/Registration: Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider Certification/CPR. Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Colorado or a participating compact state. National board certification will be required in a reasonable time frame after the Nurse Educator has assumed his or her role with the goal and timeframe for completion to be determined by the nurse leader with their supervisor. *Specialty certifications as required/recommended per area(s). All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
