Description

CSE Accountants are responsible to credit money's collected for Child Support to the cases they are owed to in order for those funds to be disbursed out. Accountants efficiently and accurately credit payments to the payor's account based on Nebraska State Statute, receive, log, copy and code all payments that are received, prepare batch receipts and tie the payment to the correct payor, prepare and enter the deposits. Efficiently and accurately complete audits of quarterly expense claims submitted by grant sub-recipients and approve them for payment. Review and enter accounts payable invoices for CSE Unit.

Examples of Work

Accurately receipt, balance, deposit and/or validate the receipting, distribution and disbursement of child support payments. Determine distribution based on PRWORA (Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act) and other Federal/State regulations and laws; resolve system discrepancies. Interpret court orders and analyze payment records. Complete required monthly/quarterly/yearly Federal/State reports. Receive, review and approve invoices from interagency and private vendors for incurred Child Support Enforcement expenses. Compile statistical information. Audit financial data for accuracy and approve expense reimbursement claims. Work with child support caseworkers/ agency representatives and clients to resolve issues and/or properly disburse collections.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree in accounting, finance, business administration, statistics or related field and experience with accounting/financial management systems OR 2 years experience with professional accounting procedures including developing and modifying accounting/financial management systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of standard accounting principles, theories, and practices; research practices and techniques; record keeping methods; word processing and spreadsheet computer software programs; computerized accounting software; federal and state laws and regulations applicable to accounting/finance operations. Skilled in interpreting and processing information received; using mathematical methods or formulas to compare, analyze and present data; compiling data from multiple sources into a single, comprehensive document or report. Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions; organize and present facts and opinions so others will understand; communicate effectively and work well with team members.
