Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Engineer, Senior Staff / Advanced Development Programs in Palmdale, California
Description: This engineering position is with our Historic Skunk Works in Palmdale, California. This position supports the LM Aero - Advanced Development Program as Aeronautical Engineer, Senior Staff for the Flight Control and Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) integration team.
Responsibilities include the definition, technical development, procurement, and integration of the Vehicle Management System (VMS). Efforts include flow down of requirements into procurement specifications, management, traceability and verification of requirements. Perform trade studies of VMS architecture. Assignment requires aggressive subcontractor management of hardware suppliers for timely and on-cost delivery of products. Rigorous application of systems engineering and thorough coordination between the flight controls team, other program teams and the customer
Create and maintain related documentation including interface control drawings (ICDs), Master Measurement List (MML). The candidate will support system/software verification and validation effort and customer reviews during all phases of system development. Experience with the development, operational checkout and formal test of flight critical systems for a new aircraft program is highly desirable. The candidate will develop and support integration and system check outs (SCO’s) procedures on flight test article and support pre-flight and post-flight analysis and reviews. Candidate will have familiarity with Vehicle Management System hardware including actuation systems.
Good oral and written communication skills are required as is the ability to flex and adapt in a fast-paced team environment. Complex organization and documentation skills are required. Ability to develop solutions to specific technical challenges. Selected applicant will be subjected to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and special program clearances.
**Must be a US Citizen, position is located at a facility that requires special access. A Secret Security Clearance is needed and a clearance investigation must have been conducted within the last 5 years.
Desired Skills: Demonstrated ability coordinating with systems engineering, hardware designers and subsystems.
Experience supporting Flight Test.
Experience with system build, system integration, and test.
Experienced working ICDs, Data bus interfaces, hardware/software integration.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate with systems engineering from other teams; with hardware designers, propulsion, utilities and subsystems, and test and verification.
Excellent communication skills
Active Secret and ability to obtain a Secret SAP/SAR clearance/access
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related discipline.
Flight Control System /Vehicle Management System (VMS) experience.
Experience in all aspects of the VMS development lifecycle: architecture, requirements, design, development, integration, testing, and flight test.
Experience with failure management of redundant flight critical systems.
