We are seeking a strong Grade level 29 IT Manager to oversee the Database team in San Antonio.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains database results by setting and enforcing standards and controls

  • Prepares for database expansion by studying plans and requirements; advising senior technical management; coordinating design and programming

  • Keeps senior technical management informed by preparing reports on system performance and problems

  • Upgrades hardware and software by assessing transaction processing and database production options

  • Maintains database performance by troubleshooting problems

  • Accomplishes platform upgrades and improvements by supervising system programming

  • Secures database by developing policies, procedures, and controls

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

  • Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in IT Data Base systems

  • 2+ years of overseeing teams of technical (preferably DB) resources (direct staff not matrix) teams of at least 6 people or more

  • Demonstrated SME in the following areas:

  • Data Maintenance

  • Database Management

  • Promoting Process Improvement

  • Presenting Technical Information

  • Database Design

  • Reporting Skills

  • Quality Focus

  • Technical Understanding

  • Attention to Detail

  • Thoroughness

  • Requirements Analysis

  • College degree or 8+ years equivalent work experience

  • Must be located in San Antonio, TX Well Med offices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automation of maintenance and administrative tasks

  • Experience with several of the following: SQL Server, Oracle DB, Golden Gate, MySQL and Mongo DB

  • Experience scaling large database platforms
