Lockheed Martin Mechanical Project Engineer in Santa Maria, California

Description: The GFES Program (Ground & Flight Engineering Solutions) performs satellite launch processing operations,flight hardware assembly integration & test (AI&T) as well as ground support equipment operations & maintenance (O&M). The primary operating locations are Santa Maria, CA, Vandenberg AFB, CA and Sunnyvale, CA.

GFES is seeking an engineer to support assembly & test and operations & maintenance (O&M) of spacecraft and associated processing facilities & systems, especially satellite ground support equipment (GSE). During pre- and post-launch processing of booster and spacecraft, support the operation and maintenance (O&M) of launch facilities and associated ground systems. Develop test procedures for flight hardware processing, transport and launch. Actively train to become a test engineer/test conductor. In addition to O&M work described, the candidate selected will perform subsystem acceptance testing, pre-mission checkout tests, troubleshoot anomalies, develop failure analyses, identify failure root cause, execute corrective actions and identify lessons learned. Support of these activities may require some travel as well as the potential for night shift, overtime and weekend work.

Desired Skills: Knowledge of and experience with control logic and control software.

CAD experience and design abilities related to HVAC and electromechanical systems.

Some electrical background and experience with electromechanical systems such as environmental control systems for critical facilities and cleanrooms.

Experience developing performance analysis of system test data.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic understanding of mechanical systems (motors, pumps, valves, HVAC chillers, etc.).

Ability to read engineering documentation (drawings, specifications, vendor manuals, etc.), write test procedures, maintenance plans & work orders and develop maintenance work orders.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience preparing and presenting technical reports.

Ability to work closely with hands-on workforce to complete O&M tasks described.
