As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Purchasing Assistant in our Machine Products Group, located in Westminster, CA. This division of B/E Aerospace specializes in high-quality, complex components, assemblies, kits, gears, precision and gearbox assemblies, and complex machined parts for commercial and military aerospace applications.
Provides administrative and clerical support to purchasing department managers or staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains files, logs, records of invoices, purchase orders, and other related documentation.
Maintains information on computer systems.
Assists in expediting orders.
May assist buyers in contacting vendors to obtain prices and schedule delivery dates.
May develop and maintain resources for assigned commodity items.
Prepares standard requests for quotation.
Assignments may require initiative regarding pricing revisions, order cancellations, discontinued items, acceptable substitutes, delivery date revisions, invoice discrepancies, etc.
Performs other related duties as required.
Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.
Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one-to-two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and associates.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
