This job was posted by : For more information, please see: This position centers around the establishment and maintenance of irrigated crops grown for research plots. As a part of the field team, the candidate will participate in planting, growing and harvesting crops of a wide variety of plants for small plot research or seed production purposes, in configuring and maintaining research and farming equipment, and maintaining the research facility. This is a hands-on field position in the arid southwest. The job duties require thorough documentation and excellent record keeping skills along with the ability to read and understand technical resources. Occasional travel is required. Position is based in Yuma, Arizona.Must be legal to work in the United States; Good written and spoken English fluencyA valid driver's license and reliable transportationA high school diploma or equivalent; Computer literacyExcellent attention to detail and strong communication and teamwork skillsPhysically able to lift and carry a 50 pound backpack and perform moderately strenuous field activities, including bending down, walking in uneven fields, using a sweep net, climbing up and down ditch banks, on and off equipment, etc. Familiarity with agriculture and farming; Experience in the operation of farm equipment and irrigation systemsMay be required to work weekends and long days during peak periods. Willingness to work around a variety of chemicals, such as fertilizers and pesticides
